New Product Roundup: Plant-Based Portfolio Expansions

Krusteaz, maker of premium pancake and waffle mixes, has added a line of oat bites to its portfolio. The Energizing Oat Bites Mix comes in two varieties, Chocolate Chip Oat and Cinnamon Oat, that require no baking. They are made with eight grams of plant-based protein per serving and feature whole grain oats, flaxseed, and chia.

“After the great success of our protein and whole-grain line of pancakes, muffins and cornbread, we were eager to provide consumers with options for convenient anytime snacking," said Andy Heily, president and CEO of Continental Mills, parent company of Krusteaz, in a statement. "At Krusteaz we believe that nutritious protein-filled snacks don't have to sacrifice great taste, so we're excited to continue to add more products that combine the energizing benefits of whole grains and protein with the classic taste that consumers expect from the brand."

Gathered Foods, makers of Good Catch plant-based seafood, have launched a line of frozen entrees and appetizers. The new offerings include New England Style Plant-Based Crab Cakes, Thai Style Plant-Based Fish Cakes, and Classic Style Plant-Based Fish Burgers. "Quality and innovation are essential to the Good Catch culinary journey," said Chad Sarno, co-founder and chief culinary officer at Good Catch, in a statement. "Recreating the taste and texture consumers expect from whitefish and crab cakes challenged our team to push our boundaries. We are really proud of the final outcome."

Treeline Cheese has introduced a new line of plant-based cream cheeses made from cultured cashew nuts and other natural ingredients. The line includes three flavors: Plain, Chive & Onion, and Strawberry. "As more consumers look to reduce their dairy intake, the introduction of delicious and creamy plant-based cheeses that match the rich flavors and consistency of dairy cheese is driving category growth.  Treeline appeals to a broad spectrum of consumers from flexitarians to vegans," said Treeline CEO Justin Lambeth, in a statement.
